Joseph Bernard "Pat" O'Neil

Joseph "Pat" Bernard O'Neil was born on November 29, 1927, in Bronx, New York, his father, Joseph G. O'Neil, was 25 and his mother, Alice, was 23. In Rye his family lived at 4 Dearborn Ave. and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Joseph was a Rye High School Graduate, Class of 1945.

Joseph enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War II. His service began on February 19, 1945, when he was 17 years old. He would rise to be a Lt Col. also serving in both Korea and Vietnam.

Joseph married Miss Marjorie Elizabeth Holland April 10,1948 at the Bailey Chapel, Fort Eustis,VA. They would have five children together.

He died on October 15, 1993, in Jacksonville, Florida, at the age of 65, and was buried there.

At the time of his death, Joseph was survived by three daughters, Ms. Jane O'Neil of Richmond, Mrs. Susan Richard and Mrs. Nancy Anne Turknett, both of Jacksonville; two sons, Patrick J. O'Neil of Lawrence-ville, N.J., and Robert L. O'Neil of Jacksonville; a sister, Mrs. Betty Rich of Kettering, Ohio; and three grandchildren.
